The real question isn't about whether gluten is good or bad;
it’s about how gluten affects YOU.
Gluten is the protein found in wheat berries, semolina, spelt, farro, kamut and durum. Other grains containing gluten include rye and barley. It’s a sticky, glue-like substance that’s hard to digest.
Be aware of how your body responds to gluten.
Gluten is a large molecule, which is very abrasive to the lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. No human can digest it. Every time you consume foods with gluten you run the risk of damaging the lining of the GI tract. Once the lining has been damaged, you set yourself up for intestinal permeability also known as leaky gut.
This can lead to,
Food sensitivities
Eczema
Brain fog
Depression
Autoimmune conditions (arthritis, lupus and hasimoto)
Symptoms,
Digestive discomfort (bloating, gas, constipation)
Headaches, poor memory or feeling foggy
Fatigue, feeling unmotivated and increased sleepiness
Emotional sensitivity
Feeling hungry and empty even though you are stuffed
Constant cravings for more carbs and sugar
While avoiding wheat/gluten is important, it’s only part of the picture. What you put in your mouth is equally important. Remind yourself of this: what you eat speaks to your cells, including your genes. To obtain health benefits you must replace it with vibrant whole foods!
